☪ Benjamin Goffyn ,,
•• baptized with a perfect name
, the doubting one by heart alone without himself
full name;; Benjamin Goffyn
nicknames;; Ben, Benji, Windig
age/birthday;; 18 - October 31
occupation;; Baby-sitter
element;; air
sexual orientation;; homosexual
distinguishing features;; Benjamin has a flare for the dramatics that probably started with his appearance at the age of ten. He loves attracting attention to himself, regardless of whether its positive or not and his dress shows this. His naturally dirty blond hair is dyed black with only a few streaks of its natural color sneaking in, usually in the ends (if you can ever see his roots he will swear that Hell has officially frozen over), making him look even paler than he really is. He straightens it every morning and refuses to leave the house if a single strand is out of place. If he is pressed for time all he will do is straighten it though he enjoys teasing it up into something that resembles a lion’s mane and adds a good half foot to his height and requires two bottles of hair spray to perfect. His brown eyes must have eye-liner and mascara on if you want to get Benjamin to leave the house, if he’s run out of either he refuses to leave, absolutely refuses and will make someone go to the store to buy him more. As far as make-up goes that is usually it unless he is dressing up for something special or wanting to upset someone who has a problem with his style more than normal.
Clothing wise Benjamin falls into the scene, emo, or punk category. Tight jeans, dark colors, skulls, and the ilk. He enjoys T-shirts that are this side of too small, jeans are more baggy though still look close to painted on. He always has two pounds of jewelry on at all times as well. His eyebrow piercing and tongue stud are the last things to be put on, on a regular basis, then a necklace or two, three rings on one hand and another two or three on the other, fingerless mesh gloves, maybe a bracelet or three, and a large belt. Silver and decorated usually with skulls are all the jewelry he will wear and his favorite piece of clothing happens to be a large silver belt with a skull for the buckle that is covered in sparkling fake diamonds. He doesn’t over accessorize with random chains hanging off of his clothing or anything, he considers anything else to be tacky. He has three tattoos, one on his neck, one along his left forearm, and another on his right pelvis or hip. The one on his neck is a random symbol, something like a capital T with two smaller crosses along the line in a circle, the one on his forearm is the word ‘Freiheit 89’ in swirling script, the last is a star within a star within a star, all are a simple black.
face claim;; Bill Klautz
•• war between him and the day
, need someone to blame in the end little he can do alone
Benjamin is one of those 'happy' people. He's not happy as in endlessly cheerful, full of sunshine all the time, OMG shoot his happy ass /please/...- that's just annoying. And plus, this is not some kiddie show - no one is /that/ happy all the time. Not without alcohol or the assistance of, erm, 'not-exactly-doctor-prescribed happy drugs'. Benjamin is happy as in energetic and in love with life. The black haired beauty is a sweet boy, but not sickeningly so. His demeanor is infectious to most; he just brightens the room whenever he walks in. Benjamin is very open-minded, but not to the point of being a hopeless optimist. he likes to see the good in everyone, but if it isn't there then it just isn't there. And if something is beyond reality then it's just not going to happen. Ever. Period. This attitude makes is very hard for Benjamin to interpret 'good' and 'evil'. Really, Benjamin is one of those 'shades of gray' types. Benjamin sees no 'sides' in a war, just causes. It doesn't do much for his ability to judge a person's character either. . . anyway.
Despite his open mind and 'happy' persona, Benjamin is very wary of letting people 'in'. Those secret, almost intimate things that you would only share with a trusted friend or family member - Benjamin doesn't do the 'sharing thing' like that. This is due to the tendency of people, those he should have been able to trust, letting him down or just betraying him outright. Those that don't hurt or betray her usually die or suffer for their kindness, the one exception being his twin. You'd think this would make Benjamin a completely distrustful person, and it does - to an extent. he appears open and warm, but really holds people at an arm's length. He's the type of person that you could consider your best friend, but you would find - upon investigation - that you know very little about them (i.e. their past, their inner thoughts, their inner pains, etc.).
Benjamin is a passionate young man, but that passion does not seem to extend throughout the romance department. His easy-going, energetic, happy nature goes well with him natural charm and her unusual looks. It makes drawing a man, or woman, in fairly easy. The problem comes in commitment and letting the person into his heart. By commitment problem, I don't meant that Benjamin has a hard time staying faithful. That's definitely not a problem. 'Commitment problem' means staying with the person when things get serious. Not hard or trying, but serious. True intimacy is a red flag for him. Sure, working through the bad, kissing, cuddling, foreplay, even full out sex - all of that is fine. It's talking, like really talking, that takes work. Sharing secrets, sharing the inner workings of his mind/his heart, etc. - those are the red flags.
Benjamin's greatest issue by far is with abandonment. Benjamin is highly afraid of being left alone by all those he comes to depend on, causing him to avoid commitment. It's why he spends so much time in orphanages. Children, Benjamin believes, will not leave you. Children grow attached and don't wish for the source(s) of their affection to go away. Children don't leave you, they beg you to stay. Or so his reasoning tells him. When it comes to trust, it'd probably be easier for her to trust someone his age or younger than someone older than him. There can be a few exceptions, /very/ few exceptions, but it won't be the 'cheery', 'maternal/paternal' adults. It'll probably be the loners, the 'rogue-ish' adults - the ones Benjamin will believe can cause him the least emotional damage. Adults such as those will hold Benjamin at just as much of a distance as he holds others. /That's/ a relationship he can work with. Once someone does gain his hard-earned trust, though, they will have gained his loyalty as well. Benjamin has an extreme sense of loyalty, but it doesn't take much for you to lose that trust of his. Again, with his abandonment and commitment issues, it's not that hard.
Benjamin is not quick to anger, but once he gets there, he turns vicious. Benjamin's rage is a rare sight, and it's definitely not a pretty one. One quick way to set him off is to badmouth or attack someone he cares about, especially his brother. The more that person means to him, the quicker he'll be to get on the offender's case. One word or move that he doesn't like or thinks is uncalled for and he'll be on your case faster than you can blink. Other than that, garnering his hatred isn't easy. I wouldn't recommend pressing your luck though because once you have it. . . he'll be sure to let you have it. He is not an evil person, not really. He just hates people, has a tendency to hold grudges in a general sense and thus most people find themselves on a hard end with him when he's out at night, on his own time.

hometown;; Leipzig, Germany
family;; William Barrett (father), Miranda Goffyn (mother), Maxton Goffyn (twin brother)
Born and raised in Leipzig, Germany, Benjamin Goffyn and his twin brother are the product of a single-parent home - for most of their life anyway. They were raised by their mother, Miranda, a former airline stewardess and ‘kitchen‘ witch. She had an affair with a man named William Barrett. Upon telling William of her pregnancy, he demanded that Miranda get an abortion. If she refused, he threatened to break things off with her. This was, apparently, done over the phone. Having no intentions of getting an abortion, Miranda hung up on William and never called him back. They were officially done. Miranda went on to have Benjamin and his brother, resolving to raise the twins on her own. Forget the father, the twins didn't have to know.
Benjamin was blessed with an understanding mother, he must have inherited his open-mindedness from her. At the age of 11, the twin's were tested for any sign of magical ability. The authorities demanded that the pair of freaks be sold off to a sweatshop as the rest of magically adept were. Miranda refused. Packing their bags, Miranda took her children and fled the city, afraid that they would be taken away from her. Miranda wandered deep into what could be described as 'the middle of nowhere'. They had traveled by car until it broke down. They'd had no way to get it fixed, so their necessities were packed up and the mother-son trio kept on truckin'.
They eventually stumbled upon a little town and took up residence there. No one here knew anything; they'd be safe. They eventually stumbled upon a little town and took up residence there. No one here knew anything; they'd be safe. A year after the testing incident, Benjamin and his brother's powers manifested. Benjamin had been trying to reach the Frisbee his brother had tossed into a tree. There were no branches low enough to climb, but Benjamin tried to get it anyway. Frustrated after falling on his butt three times, 12-year-old Benjamin glowered at the Frisbee, wishing it would just fall. A breeze came along and knocked it over. The pair blinked. That had been too strong for to be a stray breeze and little wind had been going today. Also, Benjamin's twin had noted that his brother’s eyes had gained a peculiar white tint. A day later Maxton had his incident in the kitchen and Miranda sat her boys down to explain to them what they were.
For rest of that year and the following one, Benjamin began to test out his powers to his heart's content as long as he was alone or with his twin. His mother referred to him as "mein Sohn des Winds" (my brother of the wind). Most of the time though, he simply called him "Windig" (Windy). It was an endearing nickname, but Benjamin always hated it when his twin called him that in public, it was too hard to explain.
One deceptively beautiful day, Benjamin's mother ventured out of town to get a present for her sons’ birthday. Unfortunately, the town she had gone to was going through a shift in power. A very violent riot broke out and Miranda was killed. The twins knew nothing of it until strange men appeared at their home, one of them being her uncle who they had only met twice before. They came in and their uncle directed them to another room. Benjamin went, confused and wondering where his mother was, holding his twin‘s hand. From the living room, the voices of their uncle and the two officers (his friends) were carried to their small bedroom. Their mother was dead, killed in a riot. Now they had to decide what to do with the twins. Their uncle said he couldn't do it. He had three kids and "had not the patient to raise another two". Hurt and heartbroken, Benjamin and his twin tried to pack up as quickly as possible, intending to run away before they could come to a decision. Too late, the three men came in and caught the pair. One of the officers knelt down and gave two thirteen-year-old a silver necklace each - the presents their mother had bought them. They was sent to live their uncle, despite his complaints. Unwilling to even try raising the pair, he sold them to a sweatshop. For two years they worked and worked in that miserable little sweatshop before they broke out with another couple of orphans - the twins then girlfriends.
They were wanted and on the run - a regular Bonnie and Clyde quartet. In a hostile attempt to take them back, Maria (his girlfriend) lost her life saving him. In truth, it was more of a shoot-to-kill and we'll find an excuse later situation. But anyway, frozen in shock at the sight of his lifeless girlfriend, or ex-girlfriend rather, Benjamin couldn’t move and his twin refused to continue without him. His twin’s girlfriend continued to run, by herself and the twins were successfully captured. The social worker they had been handed over to hadn't known about the sweatshop situation. She had only been told that the two had been half of a group of thieving orphans on the loose and that one girl had lost her life in an accident while they were on the run. The twins, in the end, were simply sent back to their uncle again. As you might have guessed, he still didn't want to be bothered with taking care of them. He didn't send them to a sweatshop again though. This time he shipped her off to her father in the USA.
William Barrett, their biological father, hadn't even known of their existence, having assumed that Miranda had had the abortion all those years ago. Benjamin had been fairly excited to finally meet his 'long-lost' father, until he came face to face with his coldness. William made no secret of his lack of desire for them being around. He had loved Miranda and was bitter that she had, basically, chosen the children over him. He was abusive to say the least and Benjamin's only refuge was in the form of his rich father's personal assistant, Derek, and his twin. He became a surrogate father to the twins - when William wasn't there to witness it of course. William had three rules: learn English /perfectly/, get good grades (despite the fact that they'd been out of school for at least two years), and no speaking German /ever/. Should they fail to do any of those things, they'd be sorry - as if they weren't already.
Fitting in at school was hard, despite his personality. It was a school full of superficial snobs really, and Benjamin's down-to-earth personality clashed with their holier-than-thou attitudes, his clothing choice did not help at all, to say the least. He wasn't like them, and they rejected him for it. They either ignored him or made fun of him. Friendless and miserable, Derek and his older brother was indeed his only refuge. Their birthday had come up, sweet sixteen. It would be the first one to be celebrated in America. But alas, their father had forgotten, probably didn't even know when it was. He had not, after all, asked. He was as cold as ever when he came home, thinking there would be a cake, a present, a 'Happy Birthday *insert insulting name*' - /something/. He got nothing beyond a few smacks for his "insolent behavior" and a comforting snuggle from his twin. Reaching a breaking point with his father's behavior all this time, Benjamin went out and wrecked one of his father's stores with his twin. They were caught by the police and arrested. William visited them in jail and asked why they’d done it. Benjamin said he wanted to see if he'd notice, if he'd even care.
To teach him a lesson, William left the pair in jail for a few days and nights before dropping the charges. A major 'beat down' occurred when he finally brought the twins home. Then he shipped them off to Germany, back to their uncle. He sent them back. William sent them back. Their uncle returned them. Tired of the ping-pong, the twins ditched their father at the airport and headed for the streets, anything was better than their uncle or father, social services had failed them once already so what was left? Despite Benjamin's happy personality he carried an anger with him at the world's adults in general believing that if it hadn't been for their needless violence his mother would still be alive and he and his twin would be happy. Soon after he and his twin were picked up by the Duskoff and Benjamin's anger had a focus point - the general human populace.

strengths;; Spending money, weaseling his way out of trouble, watching children, plotting, having fun, speaking, decorating, presents, killing, and drinking.
weaknesses;; Maxton, vodka, gummy worms, chocolate, wide open spaces, designer labels, sales, platinum credit cards, and making people pay.
likes;; Maxton, gummy worms, shiny things, chocolate, vodka, comfort, children under the age of ten, cold, snow, and rain.
dislikes;; Hot, deserts, running out of make-up, waking up alone, small enclosed spaces, guns, being mistaken for a girl, knock-off brands, adults, and being ignored.
weapons;; Benjamin's only real weapon is a length of chain he keeps on his person at all times.
magick;; Flight: Benjamin, naturally, can manipulate the wind for flight. he basically summons forth enough wind power to lift him off the ground. He must also balance this force perfectly as he flies about, lest he become wobbly or something. Benjamin is very graceful in flight, though he most certainly didn't start out that way. Benjamin has never tried to go beyond cloud level (roughly 6500 feet). The speed he can reach is not recorded, but we'll assume that his current max is 70 mph. Benjamin is presently learning how to carefully carry people (without hurting them) on his wind currents by balancing them right along with him. Small children (kids up to age six or so) are the best he can do right do right now. This skill differs, of course, from him actually carrying something. It's like him carrying a book or small child in his arms versus him 'floating'/flying them alongside him. The former is much less difficult.
Offense and Defense: Benjamin go on the offensive by summoning wind currents to, of course, blow people or things away. He can increase or decrease the intensity of these winds, even creating a sharpening effect. These focused winds, or razor winds rather, would be able to 'slash' at an opponent. he can cause the wind to throw objects as well. We'll say that, right now, he can toss a loaded refrigerator at you.
Benjamin can summon wind currents to break someone's fall, or catch them. This is not the same as carrying a passenger in flight. In fact, it's easier. He doesn't have to worry as much about balancing them and being delicate with them. All he has to do is keep them from hitting a surface. Simple.
As for air resistance, Benjamin can slow down projectiles or objects in free-fall. He can't stop them, but it's good for buying the target precious time (projectile-wise or if something is being dropped on them or something). It is possible for him to divert the path of a projectile or person in free-fall. Nothing large or incredibly fast, like big freighters and planes or bullets. Think more along the lines of small cars and, I don't know, full packaging boxes being thrown at him. Things like that.
Benjamin can also create whirlwinds and influence natural disasters associated with the wind (i.e. tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.). He can try to create things beyond a whirlwind, but Benjamin is presently unable to do so confidently. So he'll be sticking with whirlwinds. With compressed/compacted air, Benjamin can mimic a physical hit (i.e. punching or kicking using wind/using wind as an assist).
As a defense, Benjamin can create a 'shell' of wind, protecting him from most physical attacks and some non-physical attacks (i.e. strikes from fire or something of that nature). His wind powers can also be used to protect him from airborne gases/poisons/diseases that could harm him.
Sound: Benjamin can hear sounds from far away. He does not have enhanced hearing, but can use the his powers to improve it. Apparently, Benjamin can "amplify small vibrations in the air". This allows him to hear faraway conversations, people approaching, etc. Benjamin can also re-direct these airborne vibrations/sound waves wherever he pleases, allowing not only himself, but others as well, to hear what he wants them to.
Sensing: Benjamin can sense disruptions in the air, but not very well as this point. This helps him sense people as their movement or mere presence disturbs the air flow.
All abilities can and will be improved with more practice and age.

rp sample;;
It was a bright sunny day in early fall where the leaves were just beginning to change colors and the air was crisp with a slight chill. It was one of Benjamin's favorite kind of days and he'd decided to stop off at one of the orphanages he frequented to sign a few of the children out and take them to the park. It wasn't like the guilt of killing people ever got to the teenager, he just enjoyed seeing children smile as well. It was when they got older, became adults and thus became cruel humans did he quit enjoying their company. But for now with these six children between the ages of six and nine he had fallen in love. They were so sweet and innocent that it almost broke Benjamin's heart. He had an idea, killing these children before they could grow up and turn into the evil that he saw commit such evils on every day news. He shook his head almost violently at the thought, he had done that twice before and his twin had refused to speak with him for over a month each time and Benjamin had just about died. Nothing, not even preserving these childrens' innocence was worth the separation his twin would force upon him with he found out. Even thinking about it made Benjamin nervous and he ran a hand through his long black dyed hair, he'd woken up late this morning and all he had time to do was straighten it instead of teasing it into its usual lion's mane.
Benjamin wrapped the black and white stripped scarf tighter around his throat as he watched three of the girls (Nichole, Melissa, and Amy) and the two boys (Bryan and Justin) playing on the blue and gold painted jungle gym, screaming and chasing one another in glee. The last girl (Lynnette) was seated next to Benjamin on the dark green metal bench working on her English with him, one hand clutching at the unzipped black hoodie he had stolen from his twin to wear today over one of his usual almost-too-small T-shirts. "English is the most confusing language on the face of this earth, don't let anyone tell you different." He paused, chocolate eyes lined in black eye-liner and mascara watching his little charges. "Justin what have I told you about climbing up the slide?" He stood, walking to the edge of the playground, unwilling to scratch his boots on the gravel that served as a cushion in case any of the children fell. As if loose stones were more comfortable than the grassy ground. "Come here, young man." The boy trudged towards Benjamin, head held low. Justin was the oldest of the lot he was watching, nine years old and the air witch was mentally reminding himself that Justin was now too old to be taken out if he was going to willfully ignore one of the few rules Benjamin had.
"I wasn't climbing up it." He tried to lie to Benjamin and he had to restrain his temper, the audacity of Justin to say that he hadn't been doing something that Benjamin had seen

"Time out for ten minutes, now." The German pointed to the bench he and Lynette had been sitting at and watched as Justin kicked a random stone, hands in his pockets, head still bowed in defeat as he trudged towards the bench. "Really, the nerve of some of them." He muttered to himself, pulling his cellphone from a pair of dark blue tight blue jeans to check the time. He had another hour before they needed to leave for the orphanage. He stuffed his cellphone back in his jeans and retrieved a pack of cigarettes and lighter. Lighting the cigarette he bypassed the bench he had been sitting and and stood a few more feet behind that, leaning against a tree so he could see all six of his children and smoke in peace.
